Your questions
Which wood do you use?
For our surfboards we use Paulownia, which is grown and processed in Germany. This wood has extremely special properties that make it ideal for building surfboards. If you want to find out more about it, take a look at Paulownia .
Are there any disadvantages compared to 'conventional' surfboards made of EPS?
The disadvantages of wooden surfboards are often the price and the different handling. However, these two points are put into perspective when you look at the bigger picture: The higher price when you consider the durability of the product. The handling, which is definitely different, but by no means worse. Due to the unique flex of the wood and the slightly larger mass, a wooden surfboard allows you to surf waves like never before.
Where do you produce your boards?
We produce our surfboards in our workshop in the west of the beautiful city of Tübingen. Regionality is extremely important to us, which is why this is always a key criterion for the procurement of all our materials.
Which fins fit the board best?
For us, Sieve fins are the perfect match. Classic longboard feel with just the right amount of maneuverability. Additionally, Sieve is a company worth supporting that stands for forward-looking values.
Do I need to take special care of the board?
Wooden surfboards do not require any special care. The leash plug, which has a secondary function as a pressure equalization valve, is happy to be rinsed out with fresh water, that's all. In general, signs of wear and tear will appear on the board, but unlike 'conventional' surfboards, these do not limit its functionality. If you notice any blemishes on your board, you can always bring it to us and we will repair it so that it looks like new again.
